Semester 2
Now that semester 2 has begun, it's now time to work on the practical side of the project, as I'll begin to work on comparing the concept art methods between 2D and 3D by choosing one character out of the four for each concept process (also in detailed forms). I'll also need to finish off my learning contract and have it submitted by this Monday before 4pm.
As for supervisor meetings, I'll need to make our meeting arrangements with both my academic and technical supervisors to discuss the tasks and action points that we could both agree on. I'll also need to record our meetings like a diary as part of the project's process.

Updates on Project so far
Now that I have successfully submitted my research proposal, the signed ethics form, and also the pre production coursework yesterday, I can focus on updating my learning contract towards submitting it by Monday 24th January 2011 (new deadline for professional practice module).
In the mean time, I'll begin with the practical work on comparing the 2D and 3D process methods throughout my character developments on my laptop and in the whitespace at the university. Also I'll need to find any other appropriate online forums to register and let my supervisors know that I'll be doing this as part of gathering any participants to take part in my project's research.

Updates on Proposal and Ethics form
After having a meeting with my academic supervisor, I now have enough information (as discussed with the supervisor) to start working on the Ethics form for this Friday's submission in hard copy and electronic form.
I've also managed to have a meeting with one of the members of staff from the Student Academic Support group and had our discussion about my updated research proposal. I then received some good and helpful feed backs from my proposal, and I just need to finish up fixing a few areas of using words, sorting out the long sentencing issues from the introduction page, and also update the reference/bibliography (e.g. surname first, then initials and ect). This has now given me enough confidence to finish my proposal on time and have it ready to be submitted electronically on the Blackboard also for this Friday.
As for the Learning Contract, I've gain some feedbacks from Jim this morning. He wrote on the contract some suggestions for improving the contract in detail including adding a list of milestones for the Gantt chart.
I'll firstly work on finishing the proposal, update the learning contract, and update the pre production document for this Wednesday (12/01/11). And for this Thursday (13/01/11), I'll work on typing up the ethics form, and then get to work on typing up each of the character's profiles for the four chosen characters as part of the pre production coursework (also to be submitted on this Friday).

10/01/11 - Update research proposal's references/bibliography page, and send updated proposal to academic support and any other 4th year members to gain any feed backs for improvements.
11/01/11 - Meeting with academic supervisor to discuss about the ethnics form, and meting with Jim to discuss about learning contract.
12/01/11 - Update pre production document, and start building up digital sketchbook in PowerPoint.
13/01/11 - Any Updates on any written work.
14/01/11 - Submit coursework for research methods and dissertation (the proposal and ethnics form), and also submit coursework for pre production module (pre production documents and CD containing digital sketchbook and any other media).

Four Characters in Color
I've finally managed to set up a range of different color concepts for each of the four characters from Photoshop.
Just to note that these colored designs are not yet the final concepts, but were prototypes as I've only selected the four characters only because of the appealing shapes and their own characteristics which were relevant towards some of my influences from existing game, comic, and movie characters from my research in sketchbook #1.
At the beginning of semester 2, I'll need to continue with the concept development work for each of the four character designs in more detail and applying more color and textures as part of the concept art process between 2D and 3D versions (e.g. two characters in 2D form and the other two characters developed in 3D form) in order to help my investigation for my project.
But overall, I believe that I've made more good progress so far in the pre production stage on my character developments for my honours project.

The progress of my character designs seems to go well so far, I still need to work on the color and textures for each of the four chosen characters in Photoshop, and also try to work on updating my research proposal and the pre production document.
I did however, emailed my updated literature review from the proposal, and also the project brief to my academic supervisor to look over them before our next meeting sometime this week or next week.
I've also thought about rearranging the schedule between the 4th to the 11th of January 2011.
4/01/11 - Apply images of 3D trials to sketchbook #2.
5/01/11 - Work on color and textures on the four characters in Photoshop.
6/01/11 - Submit coursework for Concept Development.
7/01/11 - Update Research Proposal.
10/01/11 - Update Pre Production Document.
11/01/11 - Apply sketchbook images to Powerpoint to create a digital sketchbook for the Pre Production module.
